STRETCHING THE MUSEUM: NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR CURATING DESIGN
DC&W Master

Where is design discourse most at home? Museums, the traditional domain of curating, have their constraints. By contrast, the growing field of experimental gallery spaces, biennials and triennials offer fresh opportunities, but for limited audiences. What can each space learn from the other? This panel gathered several notable design curators for a lively discussion about the issues and motivations shaping design curatorial practice, the role of 21st century design museums and biennials, and how to subvert them from within. Students of the programme wrote and presented introductions for each speaker on the panel, while department, Alice Twemlow moderated. The panel was part of the DAE #tvclerici exhibition.

Participants
